Worth a trip

The PANEUM as a unique excursion

Groundbreaking architecture meets millennia-old stories about bread: In the PANEUM, a fascinating world of bread awaits visitors young and old. The visitors embark on a journey, starting from the invention of bread through to the bread variety of today.

There is no other food that plays such a prominent role in our daily lives, cultures or religions. A tour of the Wunderkammer tells the story of bread and bakery with arts and culture objects spanning 9,000 years and many parts of the world. “We love bread and, in this way, we want to share the passion with everyone,” says Peter Augendopler, a trained baker and founder of the company, backaldrin, which opened the PANEUM.

Unique Wunderkammer
But it is not only the millennia-old stories about bread that make the PANEUM so special. The pioneering architecture is also worth a visit. The architecturally unique building is located directly on the west motorway in Asten /St. Florian near Linz and offers the ideal setting for an impressive collection. For a fun day out, the PANEUM offers a combined ticket with the Baroque jewel, St. Florian Monastery, just a few minutes away. In addition, there are enticing dining options and other leisure activities in the area. Parking is free and the building is wheelchair accessible. Visitors can also look forward to freshly baked Kornspitz at the end of each tour.
