The address “Zürich, Bahnhofstrasse” says everything to anyone who has ever travelled to the Swiss city: it’s “the” street in the city and one of its absolute 1A prime locations. In December 2018, Confiserie Bachmann opened its new flagship store precisely here at No. 89, where Credit Suisse previously welcomed its customers.

Confiserie’s newest and biggest specialty shop, managed by fourth generation family brothers Matthias and Raphael Bachmann, covers around 600 m² and extends over three stories. The Luzerne architect Marc Jöhl pulled out all the stops for the interior decor.

Chocolate Staircase: Welcome to the Chocolate World
Customers can enter the spaciously proportioned shop through four welcoming doors. A glass elevator at the front, an open gallery and a chandelier are designed to attract their attention and to contribute further to the Jugendstil listed building’s special ethos. The ground floor focuses on bread specialties, fine pastries, macaroons, sandwiches and hot and cold snacks, as well as salads and specialty coffees. One of the highlights is the “Chocolate Staircase”, fitted with glass steps under which decorative chocolate circulates and leading to the first upper floor. Here the Chocolate World awaits them, together with another eye-catcher: a 20 m² chocolate wall. Liquid chocolate flows over the wall, again in a closed cycle. According to the company, this will probably be the “Stairway to heaven” for chocolate enthusiasts. From March 2019 onwards, visitors can relax comfortably in the café seating 94 on the second upper floor, which will serve pizzas, various pastas, hot paninis, salads, canapés and pastries, as well as sweet cakes and savory pies.

3-D Configurator: Dreamcakes
At the same time as opening the new business, Bachmann presented its online 3-D cake configurator. Customers can simply create and order their dreamcakes, for which they can choose between different shapes, sizes, flavors, colors and a variety of decorative elements.
